Meet Our Founder
Richard Moreno descends from the Piro, Manso, Tiwa people of the Mesilla Valley, of which the Manso’s have occupied the area since the 16th Century. He is a current resident of the Town of Mesilla and the current steward of the family's historic estate that dates back to the early 1900’s. The Saldana/Parra home has been continuously inhabited by five generations of his family and is located in the Historic Residential neighborhood of the town. With a wealth of generational knowledge, State of New Mexico Educators Certification and Tribal Government experience, Moreno offers an educational scope of knowledge as a principal tour guide of Mesilla-n-Motion. Anchored in his tribal customs and traditions, he offers a succinct explanation of the Town of Mesilla from a Native American Perspective. Incorporating family stories, lived experience and a passion for education, he delivers a personal story about the “Mesillero”, their homes, resilience and determination to preserve his historic town which is located along the Rio Grande.

Richard's journey began with a simple yet profound desire: to share the hidden treasures of Mesilla with the world. As a public school educator, consultant, and entrepreneur, he had the privilege of witnessing countless visitors walk through the historic Mesilla Plaza, asking, "What else is there to do?" It was this question that ignited the spark for Mesilla-n-Motion.
With a deep sense of pride in his community and a vision to showcase the beauty of the region, Richard set out to create something extraordinary. He envisioned Mesilla as more than just a quaint town; he saw it as a vibrant hub for eco-conscious tourism, wellness, and cultural celebration.
