  • Each eBiker is part of the Town of Mesilla traffic ecosystem. This translates to each rider obeying traffic signs, traffic signals and all road and trail use rules. Ignoring stop signs, traffic lights and one way streets is extremely unsafe and not recommended at any time when on a tour or in possession of a rental. Treat each eBike ride with the same respect you’d give to any other vehicle on the road. Keep in mind that many of the streets within Mesilla proper are narrow and require strategic maneuvering. Each rider should avoid riding on the sidewalks within the historic commercial area of the Mesilla Plaza.

  • Each rider is expected to know how to ride a bike at the time of rental or tour sign up. If you or anyone in your party has no or little experience with riding a bicycle in general, this may not be the time to learn. If you are new to the eBike world and you are ready for your expedition, you will be required to view the three minute video on bike operation and will be offered a hands on tutorial at one of our orientation lots. Here you will get a feel for the braking system, understand acceleration and familiarize yourself with the weight and turning procedures of the eBike. These first five minutes of your eBike experience are crucial and will be well worth it.

  • Your visibility on the road is paramount, Whether riding during the day or at night, all bike riders should have the optimum visibility at all times. Donning your company issued reflective vest and helmet is mandatory and a great start to your safety. You must make yourself visible at all times and from all directions. Each eBike is equipped with mirrors, warning bells, locks and some with bike alarms.

  • Every customer of Mesilla-n-Motion is required to wear a company issued bike helmet while renting or touring with our fleet and equipment. Statistics show a 70% decrease in the risk of head injuries while wearing an eBike Helmet. Mesilla-n-Motion has a wide selection of fashionable helmets to choose from. This essential protective measure is one that every eBiker is expected to wear at all times while the eBike is in motion.

  • Statistics show that many eBike accidents occur during the mounting and dismounting of your eBike. These bikes are not in any way a traditional bike that you may have owned and used while growing up. These eBikes are designed with state of the art technology that combines weight, propulsion and balance all in tandem. You will learn how to position the bike, position yourself and how to manage a stable footing while hopping on and off prior to, during and after your ride.

  • Our fleet at Mesilla-n-Motion can reach impressive speeds of up to 28 mph. With this in mind, it is imperative that each rider be conscious of how fast the ebike is traveling at all times. The streets of Mesilla, the plaza, pedestrian zones and traffic heavy streets are not the place to test our eBikes top speeds. There are a few bike trails around Mesilla that you can test the speed of each bike. A huge safety issue to observe while riding an eBike, is being able to control the ride at all times with skill. Adjusting your braking technique is super important as well, always considering the weight of the eBike. Each eBike in our fleet weighs a minimum of 65 lbs. It may take a little longer to bring an eBike to a complete stop, so be aware of the dynamics of the deceleration process.
